Belly Mapping is a three-step process for identifying baby’s position in the final months of pregnancy. While most woman can tell without Ultrasound If their head down baby is facing the right, left, front or back, a few women will find it hard to use Belly Mapping alone. We will ask you to take a day or two to learn her baby’s movement habits. For example, where you feel big and little kicks and where a big bulge pushes up occasionally. You will notice more details of baby’s movements when you are semi-sitting and breathing deeply and slowly.
The Belly Mapping workshop will include:
Step 1: Drawing the belly in four quadrants.
Step 2: Visualizing the baby with a doll.
Step 3: Naming the position
Finally, Liz Derry with Otero Birth will draw baby positions on bellies. In addition, if it is found that your baby is in a suboptimal position, strategies for fetal repositioning can be suggested.
This is a great chance for women in our community to embrace their bodies and babies during such a short yet empowering time in their life.
